You're Engaged! Now what…

First, congrats! This is just the beginning of your beautiful life together. But where do you start? Check out our list of things to do after you get engaged.

Call your mom.

Call your mom, grandmas, best friend, and your favorite cousin. In. That. Order. Assuming your partner didn't propose in front of your family and friends, you need to call them to let them know the big news. They will help you disperse the information to other members of the family.

Feel your feelings.

Of course, you're happy, over the moon, and beyond elated! The person you love most in the world is going to be your person forever! But then you may be hit with a wave of anxiety and endless questions. It's perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed by the wedding planning process. Acknowledge how you feel, but don't let it stop you.

Unfortunately, for many people, there is a sadder reality after they get engaged. If you've lost someone you never wanted to have these big life moments without, let yourself feel all the feelings this moment gives you.

Get Social

Once you've called your top 3 to 5 people to tell them the big news and you've let yourself experience all the feelings this moment can bring, you can get to posting!

Take Care of your Ring

If your partner wasn't able to get your exact ring size, get it resized as soon as possible. Resizing earlier than later prevents your ring from getting lost before the big day. If the ring fits, great!

You also may consider getting your ring insured as well. It may not be the most exciting or sexy part of getting engaged, but it could save you in the long run.

Budget

Once you've called every one, posted selfies, and resized your ring, consider how much you and your partner can afford. For most people, every other part of your big day will be determined by your budget.

Once you've worked out a budget, you're ready to begin the more exciting parts of planning your wedding like picking a venue, finding the perfect dress, and taste testing cakes!
